Bark is Norwegian programmer and drummer Terje Evensen and New Zealand born/London based vocalist Angeline Conaghan. Bark's sound fuses haunting and poetic vocal melodies with swirling samples, offbeat sounds, and complex rhythmic textures. Travelling between two countries to write and create this music, Bark becomes an organically transnational process. Edgy and fresh, Bark's sound is unique.
Bark's debut album is planned for release in 2006 and will feature musicians such as guitarist Bjorn Charles Dreyer, and vocalist Liva Tveit.
"Conaghan the solo artist is a much more complex and intense proposition. Her beautiful voice weaves a tapestry of interesting colours and textures: the music has an ever-evolving palette pop, jazz, electronica and folk." NZ Musician
"A simple melodious keyboard hints at a strangeness and disquiet that is beautifully added to by Angeline Conaghan's voice, whispered and warm, a fairy tale, witchy." Amazon review of Novocain album 2006
"...this is nightmarish, futuristic ambient jazz, full of brooding throbs and clanking electronics courtesy of Norwegian programmer Terje Evensen". Time out London
"Drummer Evensen was a perfect example of the new school of drummer, a modern electronic-influenced player but well versed in free jazz, his playing was fresh and driving."Steve Cournane - The Dominion post (NZ) Jan-04.
